These Victorian chandelier earrings from 1840 hold 52 foil-set rose cut diamonds encrusted in silver with an 18K red gold backing. The lustre of this jewel is dispersed over three dangling parts forming an assembly with an elegance indifferent to the passing of time. A drop of dome-set diamonds aligned around a swaying diamond centre dangles from a pair of leafs topped by another diamond. The top cluster suspension delivers the finishing contemporary bling straight from the early 19th century.

Country of origin:
This can be of French of Belgian origin because the hallmark used, a horse head, was used in both countries.
Style:
Early-Victorian - Victorian decorative arts refers to the style of decorative arts during the Victorian era. The Victorian era is known for its eclectic revival and interpretation of historic styles and the introduction of cross-cultural influences
from the middle east and Asia in furniture, fittings, and Interior decoration. Victorian design is widely viewed as having indulged in a regrettable excess of ornament. The Arts and Crafts movement, the aesthetic movement, Anglo-Japanese style, and Art
Nouveau style have their beginnings in the late Victorian era.

Technique: The rose cuts are set on foil. This is a special technique that was used to bring the lustre of the diamonds to its best quality.
Diamonds:
52 rose cut diamonds. We do not have the weight of the diamonds which is normal in our trade when it comes to rose cuts.
Note: All diamond weights, color grades and clarity are approximate since the stones were not removed from their mounts to preserve the integrity of the setting.

Hallmarks:
The control mark here represents a horse’s head and was in use in Belgium from 1831 and in France from about 1838. However, by the rectangular shape of the mastermark we tend to think it is Belgian.
