Impressive estate amethyst diamond brooch.

This is a high quality amethyst & diamonds brooch and pendant (circa 1960). Thanks to a hook at the back you can also wear this jewel as a pendant. Although it carries a control mark 'FH', the jewel does not give us enough indications to define its origin.

It features a big round deep purple amethyst stone of an excellent quality which is most probably of Ural (Russian) origin. It is held by 12 yellow gold prongs and has an approximate weight of 81.20 carats. The amethyst is surrounded by 6 half round forms of which 2 are small and 2 are more pointed. The openings in the 4 big half forms are decorated with very fine gold bars.The rims of these forms are set with 76 brilliant cut diamonds. The 2 small forms are set with 14 tape cut diamonds. The 90 diamonds together have an approxim. weight of 3.00 carats.
