Early Victorian magnificent peridot red gold antique ring

Incredible how looks can be deceptive. We triple checked the hallmarks of this ring to convince ourselves of its age. This ring is almost 200 years old! We consider our knowledge not to be the least in the trade but without this hallmark we would have never dated this ring at is correct age but most likely to be made around 1900.

The model wears pleasantly flat on the finger. The magnificent peridot (set in a closed mounting and silver foil backed) we had it certified by IGI (see the pictures for the certificat).

Antique jewelry object group: ring

Country of origin: Unknown, but hallmarked in Holland between 1814 and 1831 with a hallmark for foreign work.

Style: (pre-)Victorian - Victorian decorative arts refers to the style of decorative arts during the Victorian era. The Victorian era is known for its eclectic revival and interpretation of historic styles and the introduction of cross-cultural influences from the middle east and Asia in furniture, fittings, and Interior decoration. Victorian design is widely viewed as having indulged in a regrettable excess of ornament. The Arts and Crafts movement, the aesthetic movement, Anglo-Japanese style, and Art Nouveau style have their beginnings in the late Victorian era.
