Not only this monumental deep blue gem emits an atmosphere of eminence, but the Gothic arches in the base of the bezel setting contributes to the ring's riches as well.

Extra information: A bishops ring is not an every day object in our inventory. In the almost 35 years of experience in the antique jewelry trade we can recall to have purchased only three before. (One of them we lent out to the makers of the movie "The Da Vinci code" based on the best seller by Dan Brown. It was worn by Alfred Molino playing the role of Bishop Aringarosa.).

A bishops ring is also called an episcopal ring. The bishop, named by the pope but consecrated by his immediate superior cardinal or archbishop, is privileged to wear the ring that is awarded to him by the cardinal. He is then free to obtain and wear his own episcopal rings. The style of the episcopal ring has almost always been very large, gold, stone-set ring.

The reason why this ring is of such a huge size is because it normally was worn over a glove.

Resizing: Resizing is possible but we prefer to leave it untouched. We could make an additional inner ring so the ring itself is not harmed, for this work we have to charge. We cannot guarantee to make it on every size; so please ask in advance. Return policy on this ring is not valid anymore once this work has been done.
